Since 2012, the American Thoracic Society’s Core Curriculum has provided ATS members the opportunity to participate in relevant clinical reviews while fulfilling Maintenance of Certification requirements. The Core Curriculum consists of a presentation at the ATS International Conference, contribution to an enduring maintenance of certification question module, and a potential scholarly product in the pillars of adult pulmonary, critical care, sleep, and pediatric pulmonary medicine.
We are writing to ask you to consider nominating a colleague to participate in the ATS 2024 Core Curriculum.
Who should you nominate?
Invited contributors must commit to participation in all program facets listed below. There is a considerable amount of work involved in the process with strict deadlines.
Candidates for participation should possess the following qualifications:
- Early career faculty; exceptionally qualified senior fellows graduating in 2024 or associate professors will be considered on a case-by-case basis
- Ability to work collaboratively (give and receive feedback, make edits when suggested, etc.)
- Excellent public speaking skills
- Skill and experience in clinical teaching
- Content expertise (topics listed below)
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Experience writing board-style questions preferred
What will be asked of invited contributors?
The following outlines the expected deliverable materials and timeline:
- Learning objectives (due Nov 2023)
- 3 Multiple Choice Questions with clinical stem, rationale, and references (due January 2024)
- 25-minute presentation to be given at 2024 ATS International Conference (due March 2024)
In addition, some pillars may opt to submit a scholarly project (e.g., a clinical review, perspective on teaching the topic, or educational video). Pillar chairs will set the deadlines for submission.
How do I nominate a colleague?
Consider the topics below and then submit nominations via the speaker nomination form https://thoracic.secure-platform.com/a/solicitations/182/home on the ATS website. You may make as many nominations as you deem appropriate. Nominations will be accepted through September 30.
