Social media resources (websites/blogs/podcasts) for medical knowledge have increased significantly, expanding from less than 20 in 2006 to approximately 356 in 2016. Social media provides a tremendous tool for educational innovation but is fraught with concerns regarding quality and privacy. The goal of this session is to provide medical educators with practical strategies to safely and effectively leverage social media to advance education at their home institution. The faulty will focus particularly on how to critically evaluate social media resources as well as strategies for translating social media participation into scholarship/academic advancement.
