As a respected pulmonary and critical care physician, Dr. Stoller has extensive experience applying his skills at the bedside as well as at the institutional and organizational level. He has directed the development of numerous clinicians to develop effective leadership skills. Turning the Tide on the Burnout Crisis (Clinicians Center)

Burnout is a direct threat to the quality, safety, and efficiency of patient care.  Clinicians suffering from burnout have lower productivity, increased turnover, and higher rates of mental health disorders.  In this interactive session, we will identify the major drivers of burnout and discuss evidence-based ways to promote clinician well-being. The speakers and audience will work through case studies and personal experiences to identify specific and actionable ways to support individual and organizational well-being, including how to advocate for positive changes with hospital leadership, how to get the most out of the EHR system, ways to improve efficiency and workflow, and opportunities to promote personal resilience.

Gifford Pinchot III, coined the term intrapreneur in 1978 and defined it as "dreamers who do." "Intrapreneurs” are employees who do for corporate innovation what an entrepreneur does for his or her start-up."  There are many health care providers who have chosen a career of being employed by an institution. What often isn’t realized is that there is great opportunity to provide innovative ideas to improve systems or create products to further the interest of their institution. This session is geared towards tapping into the innate spirit to innovate and provide a framework for successful intrapreneurship.

This workshop begins with a 20 minute lecture by Rajiv Dhand, MD on patient-related gaps in optimal use of inhalers and strategies that clinicians might use to address these gaps. This will be followed by interactive roundtables that include demonstration and discussion with multiple faculty. The roundtable topics are:  1) Meet the Professor, 2) Dry powder inhalers, 3) Metered dose inhalers, 4) Nebulization, and 5) Digital inhaler technology.
