ATS 2011 Fellows Events in Denver

The American Thoracic Society’s International Conference is one of the largest gatherings of pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine professionals in the world. If you are just starting your career or have recently transitioned to a career in pulmonary, critical care or sleep, then the International Conference is a great opportunity to learn more about the field. The ATS has many programs especially for fellows and junior professionals at its International Conference, including:

  • Fellows Track Symposium (FTS)  The 2011 FTS Symposium will allow for 125 pulmonary, critical care and sleep with fellows to attend a two-day course discussing cutting-edge topics in the field of respiratory medicine.  The FTS will be held on Friday, May 13 from 8:00am – 5:00pm and Saturday, May 14 from 8:00am – 4:00pm at the Denver Hyatt Regency and is supported by educational grants from Underwriting Supporters Genentech and Novartis.
  • Road Map for Fellows and Junior Professionals the Road Map is a pocket booklet that highlights core sessions that fellows and junior professionals may be interested in.  It was developed in an effort to make navigating the conference easier for first-time attendees as well as maximize the overall experience.
  • Center for Fellows and Junior Professionals (CFJP) - The CFJP is a networking and career development forum for physicians and other healthcare and research professionals who are in training or have transitioned in their careers. The CFJP hosts a variety of workshops specifically geared on tackling such topics as how to get a job, mentoring and negotiating a contract.
  • Fellow and Junior Professional Exchange  The Exchange is a welcome event for residents, fellows, post docs and other junior professionals on Saturday, May 14 at 5:30pm in the Denver Convention Center. This one-hour event allows attendees to network and mingle with peers as well as provides information at the start of the conference. This event includes cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.
  • Travel Awards for Training Professionals Each year the ATS offers several travel award programs that are specifically developed to bring fellows and younger professionals to the International Conference. This year the ATS is offering the Minority Trainee Travel Award, the Resident Travel Award, the International Trainee Travel Award and the Assembly Career Development Awards.
